Welcome to the new Real Meals

With PHASE ONE of our new premises open and ready for you to browse we'd like you to take a moment to check out our expanded range and perhaps try some of our new recipe ideas. Daylight is fast disappearing but there's no reason to be gloomy. We can admire the colours as the trees shed their leaves and look forward to a season of comfort food. Evenings in front of the fire with a glass of wine and a pile of toast and pate, especially if like me, you have a coal fire and a toasting fork: mmm...!
If you have friends visiting add a cheeseboard and gourmet biscuits for an informal evening. We are always ready to give help and advice about your selection and can even make up a cheeseboard for you. Look out for our new range of slate cheeseboards which should be in stock very soon. They will also make excellent gifts for the cheese lovers among your friends and family.

Quick Spicy Sausage Casserole

Soften a sliced onion in a little olive oil then add a couple of cloves of chopped garlic and one sliced chorizo sausage per person.
Fry gently for another 5 minutes then add 1 tin of chopped tomatoes and 1 tin of chickpeas. Season with salt and pepper then simmer for about 20 minutes. Serve with plenty of crusty bread to mop up the delicious sauce.

Lemon Sole with Capers

Dip sole fillets in seasoned flour. Melt knob of butter in a frying pan and as soon as it starts to froth lay the fillets in skin side up. Cook on a medium heat for 3 minutes each side. Remove from the pan and keep warm.
Wipe the pan clean with kitchen paper, return to the heat and melt another knob of butter. As soon as it starts to bubble add juice of a small lemon and a desertspoon of drained capers. Pour over the fish and serve with baby potatoes and wilted spinach.
